A "brick" within enterprise architecture seems, to me, like a much smaller piece of the whole puzzle that is EA. Smaller, but still very important! After reading about the topic and practicing utilizing this tool within EA, I learned how beneficial this framework can be to educational leaders.
As an educational leader, a brick allows you to organize, analyze, and plan for the future in a very systematic way. It forces leaders to look at the current state, the short term desired state, and the long term desired future state and create a plan for change. It uses different sections within the brick to categorize and create a timeline depending on the urgency or need for change, if needed at all.
I feel like the overall goal of enterprise architecture is to ensure that businesses/organizations are running efficiently, logically and cost effectively. It creates better communication among stakeholders and organizes information in a systematic way - allowing leaders to adopt or eliminate programs and systems.
