This week I really wanted to do something with portraits. I've seen so many cool, artsy portraits while doing research on pinterest and youtube, I was so inspired. Well for this first "artsy portrait" attempt I literally watched this youtube video (pause/start/pause/start/rewind) 27 times and the photo still didn't turn out anything like the example in the video. There are just so many tools to learn and use and I still don't feel super comfortable with the basics so I think I was a little ambitious. I'm not giving up though!
Original Photo
Believe it or not, this took almost two hours and there are like 6 layers on it. There is a red gradient layer, a layer with a galaxy photo blended and lightened, layers of shapes, and layers using the "grunge brush". Not much to show for my time, but I think I am going to continue with portraits next week and see if I can do any better!
So after spending two hours to no avail, I decided to just play a little and get more comfortable with different layers and blends. Here were the outcomes.
